Siam Park City

Opened since November 1980, Siam Park City is Bangkok’s largest amusement and water park. Located on Suan Sayam Road in Khet Khan Na Yao, a Bangkok's district about 30 km north-east of downtown, the park develops over a 300-acre area including the biggest artificial sea in the world. Moreover, it has several large water slides, including a 7-storey waterslide, many swimming pools of various sizes, dozens of rides including roller coasters, a Spa, a museum, an animal park, a safari section and theme attractions like Africa Adventure and Jurassic Adventure. The first attractions of the park were opened 38 years ago by the founder Chaiwat Luangamornlert, whose intentions were, and still are, to create a quiet oasis outside the bustle of frenetic Bangkok. Known as “The sea of Bangkok”, the park at present time has over 2 million visitors a year from all over the world. Completely renovated in 2007, Siam Park City is one of largest theme and water park in Southeast Asia. Its Talay Krung Thep wave pool is certified by Guinness World Records as the largest in the world. The huge pool stretches an impressive 13,600 sq m, which also includes cascading waterfalls, several rock pools and shallow pools for the smallest children. Siam Park City is separated into three main areas, the Water Park, the Amusement Park and Siam Genius, a theme park area. In addition to the giant Talay Krung Thep pool, the Water Park's main attractions include the impressive 23-meter high Speed Slide, which was recorded as the tallest water slider in the world since 1970, the Super Spiral, a four integrated water slides on several levels spiralling down into a smaller pool, the Lazy River, a flowing river moving throughout the water park, and the Spa Club, the health spa club located near the main pool which offers the original Thai massage and foot massage. The Amusement Park is then separated into 4 sub zones: X-zone, Fantasy World, Family World and Small World. The X-zone houses the most extreme rides such as the Vortex, Giant Drop and the Boomerang. To get on the X-zone rides your height must be over 130 centimetres. With a length of over 750 meters the five loops Vortex is one of the two largest suspended looping coasters in the world, and the first of its kind in South East Asia. The Boomerang is a roller coaster with three loops will have you racing forward and backward. The Giant Drop is a free fall drop tower ride 75-meter high, the highest in South East Asia. Main attractions includes also the Balloon Race, a new spin going up to 24 meters, the Condor, which will spin you around and launch you into the sky, and the Topspin. Fantasy World has the easier rides suitable also for smaller kids except for the smallest ones. The most popular attractions of this zone are: the Twin Dragon, a Viking ship ride with a dragon theme that will have you swinging back and forth, the Tagada Disco, a spin around like crazy on a giant plate, the Astrofighter, Trabant, Monster and Rock & Roll. At Family World you will find attractions suitable for everyone in the family, like the Log Flume, a long thrilling water slide down from the mouth of a giant lion, the Si-Am Tower, a 109-meter high observation tower that offers a 360-degree panorama of Bangkok, and the Grand Canyon Express, an elevated ride over a Grand Canyon like landscape. In this Park's area there are also the theme attractions, as Africa Adventure, where you can choose to go on a boat or on a small open train and see villages and mechanical African animals as lions, elephants, giraffes and even King Kong listening scary sounds coming from the jungle. Jurassic Adventure is a jeep ride into a jurassic landscape for admire many species of dinosaurs moving around and making scary sounds and see an exploding volcano. Dinotopia consists in a walk through the darkness while the spotlights illuminate giant dinosaurs and prehistoric men. The adjoining Dinosaur Museum houses several dinosaur skeletons and provides information about the prehistoric animals. There are several restaurants and countless food stands around the park selling food, drinks, snacks and ice cream; next to the water park entrance is the Si-Am Marine Restaurant. The buffet lunch, which is included with the entrance ticket, is a good variety of Thai, Indian and European food like rice dishes, soup and pasta, as well as local fruits and desserts. Soft drinks like Coke and Sprite are included. Siam Park City is open daily including national public holidays from 10.00 am to 06.00 pm.
Getting to Siam Park City: The amusement park is located at 203 Suan Sayam Road in Khan Na Yao district, about 30 km north-east of Bangkok downtown. The easiest and quickest way to get there is by taxi. From downtown the ride will take between 45 minutes to 1½ hours depending on traffic, and should cost not more than 400-600 baht. Make sure the driver switches the meter.
Entrance fees: One day pass for Water Park and unlimited rides in the X-zone, Fantasy World and Family World including buffet lunch per adults, height over 131 centimetres, costs 1,100 Baht; One day pass for Water Park and unlimited rides in Family World and Small World including buffet lunch per children, height between 101 and 130 centimetres, costs 850 Baht, while for children under 100 centimetres in height admission is free.
