Krabi Boek Fa Andaman Festival

Krabi Boek Fa Andaman Festival, also known as Andaman Sea Festival, is an annual event that officially marks the beginning of the tourist season in Krabi province. Literally translatable into "Opening the Andaman Sea", Boek Fa Andaman event usually runs from 16th to 18th November. The three-day festival features parades, cultural and musical performances, and open-air markets featuring locally-produced goods. Water sports, sea kayak competitions, longtail boat races, local products contests and cultural competitions are also held on this occasion. Although the Boek Fa Andaman Festival simply marks the start of another tourist season in Krabi, the locals have turned it into a celebration of the unique local flavour of the region, which has its roots steeped in Indian and Muslim culture. This colourful heritage shines through in the food, crafts and performances which fill the three days of the festival.
