Pattaya Night Bazaar

Pattaya Night Bazaar is a large indoor market in the heart of Pattaya where you can find all sorts of goods. Also known as the “Made in Thailand Market”, it is held in a large permanent structure located roughly in the middle of Pattaya Second Road, almost opposite the huge Central Festival shopping mall. Its design is based on the traditional outdoor night markets found throughout Thailand, but it offers a more enjoyable shopping experience to visitors as it is fully covered, well-lit, ventilated and protected from the midday sun heat. Although named the Night Bazaar and the bright signpost on the front of the covered structure states that it is a night-time attraction, the market is actually open during the day as well. The official opening time is between 10am and 11pm, but few stalls are open at 8am and some of them are often open till later. The stalls are not temporary and packed as in other markets; they look like little mini shops lined up along alleyways much larger and roomy, each selling their own types of goods. There are at least 200 small stands offering the widest range of products to choose from, including cheap clothing, t-shirts, shorts, jeans, bags, luggage, sunglasses, scarves, hats and shoes, as well as jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, pirated DVDs and CDs. Items on sale also include a lot of souvenirs and goods made in Thailand such as wooden carvings, crafts, silk, Pashmina shawls, home accessories, scented soaps, herbs and essential oils. The bazaar also houses a greater concentration of tailor’s shops than almost anywhere else in the city. The prices of goods on sale here are quite reasonable and a little bit of haggling could find you getting a very good deal. Almost all the items are offered on a negotiable price basis, and few have price tags attached. Never ever accept the seller's first price and always seek a 20-25% discount from this, which will result in a fair price for both sides. Apart being an indoor bazaar, the only significant difference from the other street markets in Pattaya is the shortage of food vendors here. This is quite strange for a traditional street market, knowing how much Thai people love their food. But the market isn’t really designed for locals but primarily targeted to tourists.
Opening time: Pattaya Night Bazaar is open daily from 10.00 until 23.00.
How to get there: the bazaar is located right the middle of second road, directly opposite to the Central Festival shopping centre, so it is very convenient for anyone staying in Central Pattaya. For those staying a little further out like Naklua or Jomtien the bazaar can be reached by using a shared blue songthaew at a cost of 10/20 baht per person.
