The Full Moon Party is an all-night rave party that takes place every full moon night along Haad Rin Beach on Koh Pha-Ngan, southern Thailand. The first Full Moon Party was improvised by no more than 30-40 travelers at Paradise Bungalows in 1985. They arranged a party along the crescent-shaped beach of Haad Rin to celebrate the full moon night. From then on, the party has gained fame and people from all over the world come to Koh Pha-Ngan each full moon evening just to join the celebration. Nowadays, the event draws a crowd of about 10,000 party-goers in low season, from 15,000 to 25,000 during high season and up to 35,000 at New Year's event. The party begins at dusk and runs until the sun rises the next day. At twilight, plenty of small tables are lined up on the 800-meter-long sunrise beach of Haad Rin and thousands of lamps are lit. The bars lined along the beach features over 12 main sound systems and play music such as psychedelic trance, techno, R&B, drum and bass, house, commercial dance and reggae, no-one is disappointed. As the evening progresses the beach explodes into a dancing frenzy while highly talented DJ's take their fun on the decks. Jugglers and fire-eaters entertain the crowds as the night goes on and with the brilliant impromptu fireworks display, the party atmosphere is complete. ► Full Moon Party 2022 dates are: Monday 17 January, Thursday 17 February, Thursday 17 March, Saturday 16 April (Songkran), Monday 16 May, Tuesday 14 June, Friday 15 July, Saturday 13 August, Saturday 10 September, Tuesday 11 October, Tuesday 8 November, Thursday 8 December, Sunday 25 December (Xmas), Saturday 31 December (New Year). ► Full Moon Party 2023 dates will be: Friday 6 January, Sunday 5 February, Tuesday 7 March, Friday 7 April, Friday 5 May, Sunday 4 June, Sunday 2 July, Thursday 3 August, Friday 29 September, Monday 30 October, Monday 27 November, Monday 25 December (Xmas), Wednesday 27 December, Sunday 31 December (New Year).
