Each year in April, Krabi Province, in cooperation with Krabi Provincial Administration Organization, Krabi Tourist Association, TAT Krabi Office and Railay Rock Climbing Club, co-organises Krabi Rock and Fire International Contest. It’s Thailand’s largest rock climbing competition where people from all over the world come to compete on the high limestone cliffs overlooking the Andaman Sea at West Railay Beach, Phra Nang Cave Beach and Ton Sai Beach in Krabi province. The contest includes three categories: Lead Climbing Marathon, Deep Water Soloing, and Fire Contest, a freestyle fire competition. This event aims to publicize rock climbing activity in Krabi Province and to push rock climbing activity as annual tourism promotional event of the province. Adding and further projecting the image of Krabi as a world-class Rock Climbing Destination not to be missed, with its marvelous natural beauties, majestic limestone cliffs, and fully equipped facilities for climbers. The main staging area is at Phra Nang Cave Beach, on the southernmost tip of Railay Peninsula, where contestants can sign up and sign in for their events. Also known as Rai Leh, the amazing peninsula is accessible only by boats with a 15-minute longtail boat ride from Ao Nang or Krabi Town, plus another 30-minute drive from Krabi International Airport.
