Siam BTS Station is the cross-platform interchange station for the Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS or Bangkok's Skytrain. The station is located on Rama I Road in Pathum Wan District, halfway between the Pathum Wan Junction to the east and the Ratchaprasong Junction to the west, in the heart of Siam Square, the Bangkok's most popular shopping area. It is the largest and busiest station on the BTS with 40,000-50,000 passengers in transit on an average day, also because it is the only interchange between the Silom Line and Sukhumvit Line. The Silom Line, represented on the official BTS map in Dark Green, runs from downtown to south-west, between the National Stadium to Bang Wa in the Thonburi, the area located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The Sukhumvit Line, represented on map in Light Green, runs north to east from Mo Chit to Bearing. Siam BTS Station is one-of-a-kind, because it is the only BTS station built on four floors and the only one that uses an island platform to facilitate transfer between lines, while all of the other stations are built on three floors with side platforms. The upper level allows transfer between trains heading to Mo Chit and the National Stadium. The lower interchange level allows transfers between trains heading to Bang Wa and Bearing. The station is linked via skybridges to the Siam Square One, Siam Paragon, Siam Centre and Siam Discovery shopping centres. It is also adjacent to Siam Square. Furthermore, an elevated walkway connects Siam BTS Station to Central World Plaza, the Thailand's largest shopping mall, and the Ratchaprasong Junction, as well as the nearby Chit Lom BTS Station. These large and luxurious shopping malls as well as being true shopping paradises also offer great dining opportunities, with several highly rated restaurants and other belonging to famous Thai and international brands. The whole area around Siam BTS Station is also a very popular spot for four and five star hotels, as well as trendy and famous entertainment venues, like Red Sky Bistro & Bar on the rooftop of Centara Grand Hotel, and Mixx Discotheque on the basement level of Intercontinental Hotel.Read More
